FEELINGS OF A PILGRIM

By Katia Esteves*

To go on a pilgrimage is the biggest decision that the human beings may take, because he must walk in complete solitude, so one can find his or her own self.

To go on a pilgrimage is to renounce to the vanities and luxury of everyday life. It is to open your heart towards people of all nationalities, religions, and beliefs. It is the whole lack of identity that gives people more freedom, no masks. You don’t know who’s rich or poor. It doesn’t matter. Criticism, a common habit of the everyday life, is left aside.

To go on a pilgrimage is to have the right of bursting into tears and wash the soul into moaning. It is to ask the Mother Nature for help.

To go on a pilgrimage is to respect your body, to caress your feet every day, to lay under a tree and to surrender. It is to make a strong decision: give up, never.

To go on a pilgrimage is to leave a trail of your resolute steps. It is to listen to the knock-knock of the crozier, essential support and travelling clock at the tiring and dangerous times. Every pilgrim is an angel and, in his or her walk, their wishes, promises and prayers become a source of light that expands itself all over the universe and increases with the higher being leading to an explosion of the sublime love and forgiveness.

Peace, light and love.

Katia.
